This morning I waved a cheerful “Yasou!” to Athens and hopped over to Istanbul. From the plane, Greece absolutely showed off—its tiny islands and rugged coastline sparkling like a postcard. Then, as we descended into Turkey, everything suddenly looked so neat and orderly, as if the buildings had lined up politely to welcome me.
From Istanbul I made my way down to Bursa, tucked into a little cove on the Sea of Marmara. And when I say close to the beach, I mean 20 steps. I could practically throw a seashell from my door. I’ll explore it properly tomorrow!
I arrived a bit later than planned, but instantly felt at home. I’m staying with Oman (Mum), Nisa (the super-active adult daughter), and Maleck (the youngest, still in high school). They have 19 cats. Yes, nineteen. My new roommates. I’ve met them all—sort of. Tonight was more of a “hello blur of fur,” but tomorrow I’ll make proper introductions.
The family is wonderful—warm, funny, and incredibly welcoming. We’ve already laughed so much that I feel like I’ve known them for ages. I even met the son and grandson over the phone. I’ll be here a couple of weeks, possibly longer, helping care for the feline empire while they’re at work and school.
Tomorrow: the beach, 19 cats, and a brand-new adventure in Turkey. Merhaba, indeed!
