A Presta Predicament and the Road to Shkoder

Who knew you couldn’t pump up a bike tyre at a petrol station? Certainly not me! Turns out my trusty steed needs a Presta valve, not the usual car-style one. So, off I went and bought the right pump—success! Tyre inflated and still holding strong after three hours (small victories count on the road).

It does seem, however, that my Slovenian bike guy forgot to add tyre gel to both tyres—oops. With no repair shops or gel to be found in this little town, I’ve decided to hop on a one-hour bus tomorrow to Shkoder, Albania. It’s a cyclist’s haven with several repair shops, so I’ll get both tyres checked properly before setting off to explore Albania on two wheels.

Sometimes the road takes an unexpected detour—but that’s half the fun, right?
