Hiking in Podcetrtek

Today was all about hiking — 13 kilometres of fresh air, flowers, and fungi spotting! The last two kilometres came with a bonus: absolutely pouring rain. Luckily, there was a lovely viewing shelter and a big lookout tower along the way. I decided not to climb the tower though — spiral stairwells and I don’t get along, especially in the rain. Anxiety overload avoided!

Still, the day was brilliant: wildflowers everywhere, mushrooms popping up in the undergrowth, and plenty of photo stops. And the best part? I got news that I’ve been accepted for a Workaway in Croatia! Tomorrow I cross the border and head to Gloria’s place, where I’ll be helping out in her gardens (one of my favorite things). She’s Croatian but has traveled widely, so I’m really looking forward to hearing her stories and soaking up some local culture while I’m there.

All in all — wet shoes, happy heart, and exciting plans ahead! 🌿🌸
