Sofia: The Sparkling Icicle That Melted My Heart ❄️💙

Sofia has felt like a sparkling icicle — something delicate and beautiful that, over time, softened into something even more meaningful.

I feel incredibly grateful that Jane returned early from Egypt, giving me the chance to truly experience this city rather than just pass through it. It’s one of those unexpected moments that ends up meaning the most.

Travelling through only a small part of Bulgaria, I’ve felt a quiet contrast — a gentle sadness that lingers in some villages, stories you can almost feel without them being spoken. And yet, there is such deep beauty in the people. Soft smiles, kind gestures, a warmth that meets you in the simplest of ways.

But Sofia gave me something more personal.
It was here that I felt my heart open a little wider. Especially with the children — where connection didn’t need words, didn’t need perfection. Just presence. Just kindness. Just a willingness to meet each other exactly as we are. In those moments, I felt both the innocence of them and a quiet strength growing within myself.

Travel has a way of doing that — gently guiding you beyond the edges of your comfort zone, not by force, but by feeling. It strips away the noise, the expectations, the routines… and leaves you with what truly matters.

And in Sofia, I didn’t just see a city.
I felt something shift within me — softer, deeper, and more connected than before.

Feeling so grateful and full of joy.
