Special Chicken lunch…..

Marilyn and the girls were very busy this morning while I was outside feeding the lambs. There was plucking, cleaning and general chicken activity going on, and I thought, Perfect … we’re restocking the freezer. Maybe, just maybe, we’re having a beautiful chicken lunch today!

Well… lunchtime arrived, and my chicken dreams came crashing down around me. There, sitting proudly in the pan, was chicken feet, chicken heads, livers, hearts, kidneys, necks and other bits I’m not entirely sure I want to identify — all mixed through spaghetti.

I could do nothing but laugh, grab my camera and take a photo.

Marilyn looked at it and said, “Looks funny!”

I said, “Well, this is what we would normally feed the street dogs back in Mexico.

“Without missing a beat, she replied, “So you’re eating dog food today?”

I assured her I wasn’t being rude — and she completely understood, which resulted in both of us having a good laugh.

So this meal was mentally filed with Tripe fritters. Nope sorry … fasting day.

”But I have to say, Chino, Kayla, Casper and Buha — Maryla’s street-dog crew from Mexico — would have absolutely LOVED this lunch. They would have been sitting around the table wagging their tails, wondering when the next course was coming.

So, in spirit, today’s lunch was really a table for four very happy Mexican street dogs. Who I miss terribly. There is not just four, there is Toby, Cosy and Tasha as well.

As for me… I’m still dreaming about the chicken I thought we were having! 😂
