The Lamb Nursery Never Sleeps

Just when I think the lambs are keeping me busy enough, another little drama unfolds!

A lamb was born last night, but unfortunately wasn’t reported and was separated from its mother. By the time we discovered it, the little one had developed scours, so we’re now trying to get it sorted out with a natural remedy. Egg, milk, sugar and a little cream.

Then there’s our little patient from the other night. We did find the teat we thought it had swallowed, but it hadn’t passed through the lamb thank goodness. Unfortunately, the lamb is now becoming a little listless and is having trouble suckling.

We’re not sure whether it ate something toxic, inhaled something, or whether some of the oil given during its colic episode may have gone into its lungs. Its been 6 days so we really don’t think it was the oil as there would of been earlier signs.

Tonight we’ll examine it properly, take its temperature and hope it’s below 40°C.

Fingers crossed for our little ones. 🐑❤️
