Wildlife, Chickens & One Sneaky Turtle

Saturday afternoon I joined Marylin and a German couple for a visit to Lluvia de Oro, a very impressive farm and wildlife rehabilitation centre.

They had an amazing selection of chicken breeds, a huge herd of cattle, but naturally it was the wildlife that I was most interested in.

There were two pumas, two ocelots, four coatis, 2 tapirs. Not all can be released back into the wild, but the centre is developing a programme to give more of them the skills and opportunity to return back to the wild — which is wonderful to see.

And then there was the turtle….One was quietly sneaking up behind a completely unsuspecting cat. I have no idea what its intentions were, but clearly the turtle had a plan!

Life in the Chaco certainly comes with some unexpected characters.
