Yesterday I swapped farm life for the kitchen and became apprentice to a Michelin chef!
Marylin was hosting a Women’s Health Day here at Iparoma for around 20 German ladies, so Jerome was called into action as head chef — and, being a Michelin chef, he knew exactly what he was doing. I was more than happy to play apprentice and follow his lead.
The kitchen was soon in full production mode, with salads, an assortment of meats, soups, fruit and plenty of other delicious things being prepared. It was quite a contrast to my usual duties of lamb wrangling, painting and building things out of recycled materials!
Jerome and I had a fantastic time preparing everything, and the ladies certainly appreciated our efforts. They loved the food — which was just as well, because there was alot of it.
The other Workaways were also very happy with the day’s events, as we made sure there were plenty of leftovers to go around. Let’s just say there were no complaints about the food today!
And while I may not have Michelin-starred cooking skills, I did manage to pick up a few tricks from Jerome that I can tuck away for future adventures in the kitchen.
A successful day all round — 20 happy German ladies, well-fed Workaways, and one very lucky apprentice!
