I had the hardest walk with my little boy. It was time to let him go and join the flock, with the hope that somewhere among them, he might even find his Mum.
With tears streaming down my face, I felt like a mother taking her little boy to school for his very first day. I knew it was the right thing to do, but that didn’t make it any easier.
He has now been with the flock for two days, yet I still listen for his little bleat in the late afternoon when they return. Funny how such a small soul can leave such a big hole in your heart.
Letting go hasn’t been hard just for me, but for Panchetta too. She has lost her little buddy, and I can only imagine how lonely she must feel without him by her side.
Sadly, Panchetta’s deficiency has affected her development, meaning she won’t be able to join the flock. She will remain here at Casa Lamb, where she’ll receive her daily medication, care and all the love she needs.
Some little souls need a little extra help navigating this world, and Panchetta is one of them.
I hope my little boy settles into his new life, finds his place among the flock and, just perhaps, finds his Mum. As for me, I’ll keep listening for that familiar little bleat, remembering the precious time we shared.
Sometimes love means holding on, and sometimes it means letting go, even when your heart isn’t quite ready.
