Tara National Park

The bus ride to Tara National Park was wonderfully smooth and scenic. As we began winding our way into the mountain range, I started spotting patches of what looked like white foam by the roadside — some covered in dirt. Puzzled, I turned to Jutta and asked, “What’s that white stuff on the side of the road?” Turns out… “friggin’ snow”, a polite version of what Jutta said. Definitely not what we were expecting.

There’s been quite a bit of storm damage too, with trees down along the way, so we’ve decided to tweak our plans a little. Instead of doing the big climb to the top for the viewpoint, we’ll head to Kaluderske Bare tomorrow as planned, then return to Mitrovac and do some day hikes from there.

The weather here is definitely keeping us on our toes — apparently this kind of snow is very unusual for this time of year. We’ve got warm clothes, but not exactly snow gear! Who knows what tomorrow will bring…
