Last night the skies absolutely lost their mind — thunder booming, rain hammering down, on again, off again, as if Mother Nature couldn’t decide what mood she was in.
Thankfully, no people or animals were hurt (huge win). We were incredibly lucky, especially considering an electrical fire decided to make a brief appearance in Luna’s room. The fire knocked out the internet and the downstairs lights, which at least caught Rojda’s attention and alerted her to the outage. The less lucky part? The fire damage to the wall didn’t reveal itself until morning light told all.
As if that wasn’t enough excitement for one night, we also had a flood in the laundry. Meanwhile, I was blissfully unaware of any of this, happily tucked away on the third level, listening to the storm like it was a calming soundscape rather than chaos unfolding below.
As I write this, an electrician is here giving everything a thorough once-over. Part of the issue seems to be that the pet hotel and accommodation were built in stages — which apparently gives electricity and plumbing plenty of creative opportunities.
All in all, a dramatic night, a lucky outcome, and a strong reminder that storms have a flair for timing… and irony.
