A Quirky Day Out in Mudanya & Tirilye

Today’s little adventure started with a stroll to Mudanya and a bus ride to Tirilye — a funky, colourful village that apparently turns into a packed bustling haven during tourist season. Even now, it’s bursting with charm. The streets are ruled by large, friendly dogs who wander about like laid-back locals, often found snoozing around the main statue. Bright buildings — some perfectly kept, others delightfully crumbling — add to Tirilye’s quirky character.

Wandering through town, I couldn’t help but notice the rows of olive oil shops and pickled vegetable stalls, proudly showing off their jars and bottles like treasure.

Then came the best part, a re-run of my walk to Mudayna with an incredibly wide, peaceful pathway leading all the way around the waterfront, reserved solely for walkers, cyclists, and mobility scooters.

The waterfront is lined with holiday apartments, cafés, restaurants, and plenty of seating for people-watching. Street cats lounge about waiting for pats and snacks, while pigeons feast like they’ve booked an all-inclusive buffet.

A colourful, quirky coastal wander full of dogs, cats, olives, pickles, and sea breezes — my kind of day!
