Bright-eyed and ready to explore, I headed out early to see what Sofia had in store—and it didn’t take long to be impressed. The city feels fresh and spotless, with beautiful architecture that seems to casually show off at every turn.
There’s a lovely sense of calm here. Parks are scattered generously through the centre, each one home to statues and monuments that quietly reflect the country’s deep history and pride. It’s the kind of place where you find yourself slowing down without even realising.
Even the traffic seems to have mastered the art of relaxation. No chaos, no drama—just a steady flow. At pedestrian crossings (even the ones without lights!), cars actually stop, and people cross with a grateful little wave. Honestly, it feels like a small miracle every time.
So far, Sofia is ticking all the boxes—easygoing, beautiful, and just a little bit surprising.
