I’m off to Greece — to the mythical slopes of Mt Pelion, said to be the homeland of the ancient centaurs! 🐎✨ Nestled between the Aegean Sea and the Pagasetic Gulf, this lush, mountain-meets-sea region is dotted with stone villages, forest trails, and hidden beaches. The hiking is meant to be spectacular, with misty chestnut forests and views that make you feel like you’ve stepped straight into a Greek legend.
For the next two months, I’ll be trading my bike helmet for a farm hat and looking after a lively crew of 6 dogs, 12 cats, and 14 hens. I’ll be staying with Marianthi, who runs a peaceful retreat there. During the quieter months (November to February), she pauses her courses and needs help tending to the animals and farm — that’s where I come in!
If all goes to plan, I’ll cross from Albania into Greece around the 15th of November and settle into Mt Pelion by the 20th, staying until January 20th. After that, I’ll likely chase the sunshine to Cyprus, because let’s face it — I’m far better suited to beach weather than mountain snow! ☀️🐾
