I’ve landed safely at Gloria’s place, and wow—what a colourful welcome! Purple is her absolute favourite, and it shows. Think purple walls, purple cushions, purple everything. It’s like stepping into a lavender dream.
The garden, on the other hand, is a little more… freestyle. Overgrown, scattered, with a few plants in desperate need of love. There’s no mower, no soil for the poor pot-bound plants, no secateurs—and all clippings must be burnt. But armed with hedge clippers and a branch cutter, I’m determined to work a little garden magic over the next nine days.
The quirkiest feature here has to be the “meditation chamber”—a tall tower that used to be a meat dehydrator. If you don’t hear from me for a while, don’t panic. I’ve probably just locked myself in while testing out its spiritual vibes. Add in a spooky black scarecrow watching over the yard, and it’s got just the right dash of eccentric charm.
Then there’s Mag (short for Magician), a cuddly ragdoll-cross who only dishes out affection when it suits him. He’s also got a ginger tabby friend from down the road who likes to swing by for visits. Between them and the towering fig tree (which I fully intend to enjoy), there’s plenty of company.
And the cherry on top? There are hiking trails all around, and one of Croatia’s four Camino routes is just 25 km away. Looks like the next few days will be a mix of gardening adventures, furry friends, and exploring the local paths.
