Rest Day Reflections

Today was officially declared a rest day! I walked back into Gloria’s house to be greeted not just by Mags the cat (who immediately claimed me as her human again), but also by the heavenly aroma of a homemade veggie soup. Gloria wasn’t due back until 5 p.m., yet she’d kindly left behind a steaming pot of goodness — delicious.

With a full belly and a contented cat nearby, I spent the afternoon plotting my next move: around 50–60 km tomorrow, heading south toward the Bosnian border. The plan is to cross on Friday — though the roads ahead look a bit narrow for comfort, so I’ll keep my options open. A bus or train detour to the Adriatic coast (with its friendlier bike paths and sea breeze) might be calling my name.

Meanwhile, Jutta should be landing back in Mexico tomorrow — our paths now stretching across continents once again. For now, I’m enjoying the calm before the next adventure… and maybe another bowl of that soup!
