The Farm’s Newest Pet Condo

Well, life is certainly never dull at the farm!

My little hutch, which was originally built for the lambs, has now become something of a farm animal share house. At night, the lambs, turtles and the little pullets all pile in together, proving once again that apparently nobody here believes in personal space!

And there has been a wonderful return to the farm — the large yellow-spotted turtle is back! It has been fantastic to see him, he has been missing for months also, and the turtles seem very happy to have their little social group reunited.

They can often be seen having what appear to be very serious turtle conversations, followed by dinner together. Their current favourite is nopali leaves, which apparently make excellent turtle cuisine when you’re dining alfresco.

The lambs, meanwhile, keep me firmly on my toes.

One minute they are incredibly clingy, following me everywhere as though I am their long-lost mother. The next minute they have disappeared on some important lamb adventure, leaving me wondering where on earth they’ve gone.

Of course, they always turn up again when it’s bottle time.

Funny how that works!
