Three Horses, One Name and a Whole Lot of Mesh!

Yesterday, I finally rode one of the three horses here on the farm. Amusingly, they are all called Horse!

Jan and I rode around the lake, and I was delighted to be back in the saddle. I wasn’t nervous at all—just happy to enjoy the calm horses and peaceful surroundings. It was lovely to do something different from our usual farm activities.

Meanwhile, I’ve been sewing mesh roofing for a 12 m x 6 m greenhouse. For the past week, I’ve been joining old and new mesh, fitting the pieces together like a giant jigsaw puzzle. I also have to attach tags every 50 centimetres, making the roof feel more like a giant fabric project than a greenhouse.

Jan leaves on Thursday, so we’re hoping to finish everything before then. There’s still plenty of stitching, measuring and fitting to do, but that’s farm life: one day riding a horse called Horse, and the next wrestling with metres of mesh.

I know which activity I enjoyed most!
