Well, this last week on the farm has been a busy but fairly quiet one for me. I’ve been sewing tablecloths and things for Marilyn’s daughter’s, painting around the pool area and finally getting half of the sail I made up. The other half is ready to go.
I’ve also been busy with the lambs and generally enjoying some quiet time while keeping out of the mainstream.
Unfortunately, Marilyn is dealing with quite a few staffing issues at the moment, and the new cook has turned out to be rather disastrous! When there are big staffing problems, it can unfortunately make things uncomfortable for the Workaways too, even when you’re trying to stay out of it.
So I’ve decided it’s time to move on next Thursday, the 24th. I haven’t spoken to Marylin yet, but I’ll talk to her tonight or tomorrow. I’ve promised to make the new curtains for the rooms before I leave, and I’ll have plenty of time to get those finished.
I’m not going far — just about 30 km down the road to Loma Plata.
I’ve found a new Workaway host who is 67, a physiotherapist and has a permaculture farm using copper and electrico systems. I’ve never experienced anything like this before, so I’m rather curious to see what it’s all about!
She also has ducks, cats, dogs, turtles and various other animals, so there’ll be plenty to keep me occupied.
And after nearly two weeks of very few vegetables, I’m also looking forward to getting stuck into some serious veggie eating. My body is definitely asking for them!
So, Thursday it is — pack the bags, say goodbye to the lambs and head off down the road for the next little adventure.
Who knows what I’ll discover there?
