Trains and Buses to Daruvar

What a day! I set off to see how far I could get to Daruvar by train, expecting three connections and a final bus that definitely wouldn’t take my bike. First challenge: getting the bike on the train. It got stuck in the door, three big steps to haul it up, me muttering away… and finally one train guy, who’d been sneakily watching, came over to give me a reluctant hand.

After that, smooth sailing — the next connections were easy and the staff super helpful. Then, surprise twist: at the last stop the conductor waved me onto the bus and actually loaded my bike inside himself. I’d been bracing for a 70 km ride, but instead scored a comfy seat. Big win!

Tomorrow I head to Gloria’s place around 1 pm — turns out I’ll be house and cat-sitting while she’s away, plus a bit of gardening. Should be fun!

The views today? Lots of farmland, old red-brick cottages, then towns of cream and grey houses. Nothing dramatic, but still a nice backdrop for an unexpected little adventure.
